Fruits of the Spirit
What does it mean for your mindset?
As an aspiring steward, we continue to seek wisdom through timeless principles that stand the test of time. In Paul’s letters to the Galatians, Galatians 5:22-23, the fruits of the spirit are illuminated.
Self-Regulation and Personal Responsibility
Here’s the uncomfortable truth. When you take time for self reflection and you start adding up the collection of all the decisions you’ve made, you have two choices.
Victimhood vs. Victory
Consider this:
In victimhood, you can find stagnation, deflection, fleeting comfort, and ultimately the death of your human spirit. - Lauria Grant III
In victory, you can find hopefulness, growth, purpose, and the renewal of your human spirit. - Lauria Grant III
Most people will say that they want to live a victorious life or have the desire to be victors of their own story. However, we observe so many situations that will thwart these efforts because life tends to do this. In the age of digital connectivity, it is very easy to transmit all sorts of information that can confirm why you should be a victim vs. a victory. It becomes noisy, overwhelming, and will suffocate you if you let it. What is required is a blueprint that will help you stay on track. Having a plan is the first step to success in the stewardship journey. The plan must also be understood through the context of what is true, good, and beautiful. This is why we look at scripture to anchor our understanding of how to live in victory. Time tested principles that are unchanging and stands up to ever increasing scrutiny can provide the comfort that won’t be fleeting. It nourishes the human spirit. The fruit that we bear when we live by these principles will show the growth we desire.
Please remember that this is not a guarantee of a soft life or one that has no challenges. The definition of victory, in this context, means that no matter the circumstances, we have the ability to thrive in spite of our current material conditions.
I will leave you with this: Run your race and do it well. Do not become conceited or envious of others. Let your life be a testimony of your striving towards these truths and you will find satisfaction in this. There is no earthly law that can judge against these truths which is how you know it is the right way to go.
So remember: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-Control. These elements will always be in fashion and it is up to us to be good stewards of them.
